FDR State Park

This park is right by Callaway Gardens. We stayed in loop #3 at site #301. It was very close to the lake but not right on it. There were two small bridges behind our campsite. Very picturesque.

The proximity of the park to Callaway Gardens was important because one person in our party ran the marathon they held there in January while the rest of us ran the 5K. Staying at the state park made it really simple to be at the starting line on time.

They have the best stocked park office around and totally helpful small general store. Everyone was very friendly. It was interesting to learn about how the CCC did so much work to make that state park amazing way back in Roosevelt’s time.
